HISA offers an open admissions process to all serious minded students with an ambition to discover more of themselves and the world. Neither our educational philosophy, nor our acceptance parameters discriminate on the basis of grade point average or arbitrarily decide on the quality of a student’s artistic or written work according to some traditional hierarchy. We believe more in one’s desire to succeed, of openness in sprit and sensibility, and an overall positive attitude to absorb the challenges of the new.
Please take the time on the Application Page on our site to tell us in as much detail as you can about your background and your ambitions in coming to study on a Greek island. We want to encourage students to join us who are serious, self-motivated, can work independently, and profit from spending a semester living and studying in a uniquely individualized program.
Perspective university students should contact their home institution’s study abroad office to ensure that they comply with the requirements for study abroad. In order to maintain their enrollment status, facilitate academic credit transfer and to use any applicable financial aid it is important that students follow their school’s requirements for study abroad.
Many students currently attending or recently finished high school wish to postpone college for a semester or a full year for a variety of reasons, or simply to make the most of their summer. Gap Year participants receive the same kind of individualized attention at HISA’s as those already enrolled in a college.......
The HISA program is also open to non-traditional students, who may not currently be enrolled in institutions of higher education. While we do not offer post-graduate academic credits, we do provide the program for non-credit-seeking individuals seeking to engage. These students are offered the same considerations and attentions as traditional students. However, HISA understands that participants might have a more refined focus on certain aspects of their studies that they would like to work on during their time in the HISA continuing education program, and we strive and succeed in helping all students to meet their goals. The application process for Continuing Education students is the same as for our degree-seeking students. Simply indicate in the comments on your application your educational goals.
